Aggressive Driving: Aggressive driving laws typically stipulate that a driver must be observed demonstrating more than one action included a series of driver actions that are defined as aggressive.

Aggressive Driver Actions:


1. Failure to obey traffic control device,
2. Passing on the right,
3. Driving outside the lanes of traffic,
4. Following too closely,
5. Failure to yield right of way,
6. Failure to use turn signals,
7. Use of emergency lane for travel.


Child safety laws.

 
1. Children younger than 7, less than 54 inches in height, and less than 80 lbs. must be properly restrained in the rear seat in a child restraint.
2. Children younger than 7, but at least 54 inches in height or at least 80 lbs. must be properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint in the rear seat.
3. Violations are defined as civil violations, subject to a fine of $75. DMV is prohibited by law from recording violations on a driver's record.

4. Rhode Island does not use a point system for evaluating drivers.

School bus drivers may not use cell phones while operating a school bus, except for emergencies.

Helmet Laws:
