 Point Reduction Information
The Point Reduction Section of the Tennessee Department of Safety was established to remove the points from the driving records of Tennessee drivers. Individuals found to be frequent traffic violators are sent a notice of proposed suspension and given an opportunity to attend a hearing. If they fail to request a hearing, their driving privileges are suspended for a period of six to 12 months.

When a driver requests a hearing, they are given the opportunity to attend a reduction of points in the driver records in suspension time in the court.

Some violations may prohibit the driver from taking the Point Reduction course. So the driver should verify eligibility before starting the point reduction course.
